This article helps diagnose issues with the windshield wiper system.

No Speeds Work Edit

If no speeds work, there are a few possible causes:

Intermittent Speed Doesn't Work Edit

If the low and high wiper speeds work properly, but the intermittent speed does not work, the wiper control module may have failed. See the wiper control module article for information on replacing it. It is also possible that there may be a problem with the wiper switch, the wiring itself, or a simple blown fuse.

Washer Jet Doesn't Spray Edit

The most obvious reason for no washer fluid spraying on the windshield is that the washer reservoir is empty. The very first thing you should do is make sure it is full of washer fluid.

Other possible reasons for no washer spray include:

  • Plugged or blocked Washer line or jet (nozzle). If you can hear the washer motor running and the reservoir is full, then this is likely the problem.
  • Blown fuse.
  • Wiring fault. This may be true if you can't hear the washer motor running.
  • Failed Washer motor. This may be the case if you do not hear it running.
